Transfer News: Saturday, August 29

Lionel Messi’s future continues to dominate the football world – with a move to Manchester City still being touted as the most likely outcome.

The Times report that Messi spoke to Pep Guardiola last week, indicating that he wanted to leave Barcelona and would be interested in a switch to City.

Lionel Messi's future continues to dominate world football.

Whether or not they can sign him for free or for a fee remains to be seen, with the Manchester Evening News suggesting City could offer Eric Garcia and Angelino as makeweights in a deal.

In Spain, however, Sport believe that City would offer £89.5million, Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus in exchange for Messi.

Another player swapping La Liga for the Premier League could be Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon.

The 23-year-old has impressed Manchester UnitedTottenhamJuventus and Inter Milan after a successful loan spell with Europa League winners Sevilla.

Real are likely to demand more than £17m for the full-back, who was previously on Liverpool’s radar, say Marca.

Chelsea’s summer spending will continue should they complete the £90m signing of Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz.

The Guardian report that the deal will go through in the coming days and follow the arrivals of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell.

Leicester are in the market for a replacement for Chilwell and Sky Sports believe they have two left-backs from the continent on their radar.

They are interested in Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico and Atalanta’s Robin Gosens as they look to fill the hole left by Chilwell’s departure.

The Star suggest that the Foxes are also contemplating a move for Matt Targett at Aston Villa.

Back in London, newly-promoted Fulham are said to be close to securing a double signing from Southampton.

The Daily Mail believe that Harrison Reed will sign on a permanent deal after spending last season at Craven Cottage, while Mario Lemina will also head to west London on loan.

And Fulham are also interested in Tottenham, back-up goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, according to The Telegraph .

Another player who could be set to leave Spurs is Serge Aurier, with Sky reporting that they have rejected an opening bid from AC Milan for the French full-back.

The imminent arrival of Matt Doherty from Wolves may pave the way for Aurier to end his three-year stay at the club, however.

In Newcastle, the Chronicle say that the Magpies have joined the race for Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster.

The young striker spent time on loan at Swansea last season and has also been linked with a move to Sheffield United.

And another striker who we may still see in the Premier League next season is Troy Deeney, according to the Daily Mail

The Watford captain has reportedly been offered to West Brom by the Hornets following their relegation.
